Job summary

Accident Compensation Corporation in Dunedin is seeking a Recovery Assistant Level 1 to support clients through their recovery journey. This desk-based role is highly phone-based, with email management, case tasks, and coordination of support services across multiple systems.

You’ll work in a collaborative team to enhance outcomes for New Zealanders. The role starts 18 January 2027, is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm, with flexible arrangements after training.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience and ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain information clearly.
• Comfort working on the phone for a significant part of the day supporting customers.
• Empathy, resilience and good judgement when supporting customers.
• Ability to review information carefully and make sound decisions.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work as part of a team.
• Confidence using multiple digital systems and technology tools simultaneously.
• Ability to work in a structured, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive support to clients, helping them access services, resources and information to progress their recovery journey.
• Desk-based role with majority phone-based work; manage emails and case-related tasks; coordinate support services and maintain information across systems.
• Explain decisions to clients, including when the outcome may not be what they hoped for; build expertise in rehabilitation and recovery support.
