Defence Dental Services provide clinical services, which are an essential part of holistic health services in the NZDF. In particular, proactive preventive based oral health services with an emphasis on restoring tooth form and function, managing conditions that affect the supporting tissues of the teeth and preventing future oral health problems.
The Receptionist/Dental Assistant is primarily responsible for providing front office customer service and administration support, as well as chair side assistance, cleaning and preparing the treatment rooms and sterilisation when required. This role would suit someone who enjoys interacting with patients as the first point of contact for the clinic, as well as supporting clinicians to provide quality care.
Due to the nature of this role, there is no option to work remotely.
The salary for this role ranges from $64,455 to approx. $71,497, inclusive of a 4% superannuation contribution. Appointments within this range are based on skills and experience.
Ideally, you will have 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a dental clinic, demonstrating customer service and chair side assistant experience, and a working knowledge of sterilisation practices.

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here’s what you need to know:
Low Level Security Clearance
You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
