Job summary

NZ Defence Force in Auckland seeks a Receptionist/Dental Assistant for Defence Dental Services. You will be the first point of contact for patients, handling front desk tasks and supporting clinicians with chair side assistance.

The ideal candidate has 2 years of dental clinic experience, strong customer service, and knowledge of sterilisation practices; familiarity with MS Office and Titanium is a plus. This is an on-site role with Defence community benefits.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Defence Dental Services provide clinical services, which are an essential part of holistic health services in the NZDF. In particular, proactive preventive based oral health services with an emphasis on restoring tooth form and function, managing conditions that affect the supporting tissues of the teeth and preventing future oral health problems. The Receptionist/Dental Assistant is primarily responsible for providing front office customer service and administration support, as well as chair side assistance, cleaning and preparing the treatment rooms and sterilisation when required. This role would suit someone who enjoys interacting with patients as the first point of contact for the clinic, as well as supporting clinicians to provide quality care. Due to the nature of this role, there is no option to work remotely. The salary for this role ranges from $64,455 to approx. $71,497, inclusive of a 4% superannuation contribution. Appointments within this range are based on skills and experience.

Ideally, you will have 2 years' experience in a similar role within a dental clinic, demonstrating customer service and chair side assistant experience, and a working knowledge of sterilisation practices. Our ideal candidate has the following key skills and experience:

• Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer/ patient focussed service.
• High degree of self-motivation and initiative.
• Strong organisational skills; ability to juggle demands and adapt to changing requirements.
• Effective communication and relationship management skills.
• Is proficient in the MS Office Suite, ideally with some experience using Titanium or similar dental patient management system.
