Job summary

KiwiRail is seeking a Commercial Analyst to turn passenger, booking, and financial data into clear insights that support better commercial decisions. You will work with the Revenue Optimisation Lead and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to improve revenue, pricing, forecasting, and service performance.

You will develop forecasts, monitor demand trends, and produce reporting that translates complex analysis into practical recommendations.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in commercial analysis or revenue management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with pricing and forecasting knowledge.
• Experience building forecasts and performance reports; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyse passenger demand, booking patterns, revenue, yield, capacity utilisation, and booking lead times to identify trends, risk, and commercial opportunities.
• Develop and maintain passenger demand and revenue forecasts, supporting budgets, reforecasts, and longer-term planning.
• Support fare reviews, pricing initiatives, and the development of revenue management capability.
• Prepare commercial performance reporting, investigate variances, and translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.
• Evaluate pricing, promotional and other commercial initiatives to understand their impact on demand, yield, and revenue.
• Work with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product, Customer Experience and Operations to improve commercial outcomes.
• Improve analytical processes, data quality, and reporting, and support the commercial requirements of future booking-system capability.
• Monitor tourism trends and provide meaningful insights to the Passenger team.
