Job summary

KiwiRail Freight is seeking a Linehaul Logistics Coordinator based in Auckland. You will join a 24/7 rotating roster to assemble trains, coordinate shunt movements, and keep data current across KiwiRail’s network.

With a focus on safety, you’ll liaise with operational staff, customer service, and yard teams to ensure freight moves safely, efficiently, and on time. A robust planning mindset and collaborative mindset are essential for success in this busy role.

Qualifications

• Experience in logistics, transport, or shipping (preferred).
• Ability to plan effectively and assess customer/operational needs.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Confident communicator across teams and levels.

Responsibilities

• Build outbound freight trains, mainline shunts, and passenger services.
• Monitor train movements and maintain accurate system data.
• Provide timely operational information to field staff and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with internal teams to manage changes and priorities.
• Ensure all activities align with KiwiRail's safety culture.
