Job summary

Fletcher Building Limited is seeking skilled Quarry Operators for day shifts from 6:00am to 5:00pm with occasional Saturday work. The role focuses on production, load-out, transport tasks, and occasional plant maintenance and cleaning across quarry sites.

You will operate dump trucks, excavators, and loaders, with opportunities to progress toward leading hand roles as you upskill. Safety and teamwork are prioritized within a dynamic site environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with heavy quarry machinery (dump trucks, excavators, loaders).
• NZ Class 2 Drivers Licence with WTR (if stated).
• Physically fit and able to perform heavy lifting.
• Right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Safe loading and transporting within the fixed plant and stockpile management.
• Interact professionally with customers and other stakeholders.
• Participate in Health & Safety toolbox meetings.
• Maintain a safe and presentable work area (stockpiles, yard, haul roads, extraction points).
• Prioritise safety and proper care of machinery on each shift.
• Support the Quarry Manager with assigned tasks.

Job description

We are seeking skilled and proactive Quarry Operators to work our day shift between 6:00am to 5:00pm, with the occasional Saturday.

In this role, you will support the daily operations of the quarry, with a focus on production, load-out and transport tasks within our sites, alongside occasional plant maintenance and cleaning tasks.

Having previous heavy machine experience within the quarry such as dump truck operation, excavators and loaders is a must, and with time we can upskill and train you towards leading hand opportunities.

Your key responsibilities include;

• Safe day-to-day loading and transporting (within the fixed plant) of aggregate products, handling plant machinery, and managing stockpiles.
• Interacting professionally with customers and all affected parties, ensuring positive experiences.
• Participating in Health & Safety meetings and regular toolbox meetings.
• Maintaining a safe and presentable work area, including stockpiles, yard, haul roads and extraction points.
• Approaching each shift with safety as a priority, ensuring proper care of machinery.
• Supporting the Quarry Manager with assigned tasks.

For this role you will need:

• NZ Class 2 Drivers Licence with WTR
• Dump Truck, Excavator or Loader experience
• Be mechanically minded
• Right to work in New Zealand
• Decent level of fitness – there will be some manual heavy lifting
• Common sense and a healthy and positive attitude towards your work to ensure your teammates get home safely each day.
