Horizon Trust Management Limited in Hawera invites an experienced leader to manage quarry operations across three sites. You will steer day-to-day production, safety programs and compliance while building strong relationships with customers and contractors in the region.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years' experience in either quarrying or construction sectors.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a management role leading a team.
• Strong track record in health & safety leadership and compliance.
• Solid knowledge of aggregate grades, quarry operations and environmental requirements.
• Willingness to reside within 30kms of Hawera.

Horizon Trust Management Limited – Hawera District

Based in the South Taranaki/Taranaki region, this is an outstanding opportunity for an individual who is experienced in operational team leadership to join a privately owned business in growth mode. You will oversee the day-to-day operational management, production and compliance of three established quarries with 80,000 to 90,000m3 extracted and processed each year. Working alongside a small, passionate team of 8, you will lead quarry operations, extraction activities, maintenance planning, staff leadership, safety systems and environmental performance. This role requires a proactive leader who understands the extractives industry, values high standards, and can build strong relationships with customers, contractors and roading/civil companies throughout the region.

Key responsibilities

Oversee all day-to-day quarry operations and production activities

Lead health & safety systems, toolbox meetings and hazard management

Manage quarry maintenance, plant, machinery and mobile processing equipment

Coordinate extraction, overburden removal and rehabilitation works

Recruit, train and support staff performance and development

Monitor production, fuel usage, sales and operational reporting

Assist with budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning

Ensure compliance with environmental, consent and industry regulations

About you

Minimum 8 years' experience in either quarrying or construction sectors

Minimum 5 years' experience in a management role leading a team

A solid track record in health & safety leadership and compliance

Strong knowledge of aggregate grades, quarry operations, health and safety, consent compliance and quarry operational efficiencies

Competencies in the use of technology, computers and a basic understanding of business financials

Currently, or willing to reside within 30kms of Hawera

Positive attitude, strong leadership and communication skills

Solid understanding of quarry safety, environmental and compliance requirements

Strategic thinker with practical problem-solving ability

Strong planning, delegation and time management skills

Not essential but of added value if you have

Management experience running a quarry

A or B Grade Quarry Managers Certificate

Wheels, Tracks and Rollers endorsement

Additional HT or safety certificates
