Job summary

Auckland Airport is seeking a Quarry General Manager for a 12-month fixed term role to lead safety, operations and financial performance of quarry activities. You will oversee customer relationships, reporting and compliance while ensuring high safety and efficiency in extraction and processing.

You will work with the Business Development Manager to grow customer relationships, forecast production, and deliver monthly financial reports. A strong safety and environmental record is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in quarry or large civil construction operations.
• 5+ years of management experience leading a team.
• Experience preparing monthly operational and financial reports.
• Proven track record in health, safety and environmental performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor quarry staff to achieve safety, production, sales and consent objectives.
• Grow and maintain relationships with existing and future customers.
• Forecast production requirements to meet sales demand.
• Provide monthly financial reports on sales, revenue, costs and forecasts.

The Quarry General Manager is a 12month Fixed Term role, responsible for the overall safety, operational performance, and financial success of the quarry operations. This role provides operational leadership to ensure production, sales, health and safety, environmental compliance, and consenting obligations are met or exceeded.

About the role

The Quarry GM also oversees customer relationships and sales, and ensures compliance with all legislative and consent requirements, provides timely and accurate reporting and forecasting to senior management.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

• Work closely with the Business Development Manager to grow and maintain strong relationships with existing and future customers.
• Forecast production requirements to meet current and future sales demand.
• Provide monthly financial reports covering sales volumes, revenue, costs, and forecasts in an agreed format.
• Work with Airport Infrastructure partners to establish and grow a bulk clean filling operation.
• Monitor quarry extraction and processing activities to ensure high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
• In conjunction with the "A Grade" Quarry Manager, ensure all quarry, pit, and opencast and filling operations run safely and efficiently.
• Undertake regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant resource consents, health and safety legislation, regulations, and company systems.
• Monitor product quality and stock levels to ensure customer specifications are met.
• Ensure vehicles, plant, and processing equipment are maintained and fit for purpose.
• Ensure production targets are met safely and in line with approved schedules.
• Provide strong, visible leadership that promotes a Zero Harm culture and high-performance workplace.
• Performance-manage quarry staff to achieve health and safety, production, sales, and consenting objectives.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, legislation, and best practice.
