Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Tauranga is seeking a full-time Quality Coordinator to join the Health Quality & Safety Service at Tauranga Hospital. The role focuses on coordinating incident investigations, managing complaints, and supporting governance activities with compassion and clear communication.

You will work with staff, consumers and whānau, bringing a solution-focused mindset, strong English skills, and the ability to build relationships to improve patient safety and care

Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare related field.
  • Preferable knowledge and understanding of quality, risk, and safety systems, including incident management, adverse event investigations, and clinical governance processes.
  • The ability to influence and build relationships, negotiate effectively, and challenge the status quo in a respectful, solutions focused way.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare excellent written reports, translating complex information into clear, practical recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support HQSS activities including incident investigation and complaint resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, consumers and whānau.
  • Contribute to conflict resolutions, risk mitigation strategies and clinical governance processes.
  • Prepare clear written reports translating complex information into practical recommendations.

About the Role

This position will work within the Health Quality & Safety Service. The core work is to effectively and compassionately communicate and work with staff, consumers and whānau to manage, coordinate and support core HQSS activities such as incident investigation and complaint resolution. These positions require great relationship building skills, a good command of the English language, a solution focused mindset and patience.

You would be well supported by the wonderful team. Even though knowledge of adverse event management and Datix is essential this is also an excellent opportunity for someone to deepen their expertise in the Quality field.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our team of highly experienced clinical and non-clinical staff provide support for the organisation in all matters relating to quality and risk. This includes, but is not limited to conflict resolutions, clinical reviews in adverse events, risk mitigation strategies and clinical governance.
