Job summary

The General Manager Quality, Risk and Patient Safety at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital provides strategic and operational leadership for quality improvement, clinical governance, risk management, infection prevention and control, and patient safety across the district.

Based in Hawke's Bay, you will work with clinical and operational leaders to strengthen performance, foster continuous improvement, and drive programmes that improve patient outcomes and equity in healthcare delivery.

• Significant experience leading quality improvement and patient safety programmes within complex healthcare environments
• Experience in clinical governance and risk management
• Strong strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement and change management
• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills

About the Role

As the General Manager Quality, Risk and Patient Safety, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for quality improvement, clinical governance, risk management, infection prevention and control, patient safety, consumer feedback, and regulatory compliance across the district.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will work closely with clinical and operational leaders to strengthen organisational performance, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure high-quality, equitable care. This role offers the opportunity to lead a specialist team, influence system - wide initiatives, and drive the delivery of programmes that improve patient outcomes, reduce harm, and support excellence in healthcare delivery.

About you

As an experienced senior healthcare leader, you will bring:

• A relevant tertiary clinical qualification and postgraduate qualification in quality, patient safety, clinical governance, health service management, or a related field
• Significant experience leading quality improvement, patient safety, risk, or clinical governance programmes within complex healthcare environments
• Strong strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and change management capability
• Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship - building skills
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and improving outcomes for Māori, whānau, and communities
