Job summary

Wild Appetite Limited, based near Albany in Auckland, seeks a Quality Controller to ensure our premium sauces and dressings meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements. You will uphold food safety programs, support production teams, and drive continuous quality improvements on site.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines and SOPs.
  • Support production staff in in-line quality control and HACCP knowledge.

Wild Appetite is based in Albany, Auckland and is looking for a dedicated Quality Controller to help uphold our commitment to excellence by ensuring that the products we manufacture on site meet customer specifications and comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Do:
Main Objectives:
  • Ensure all our products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Conduct quality checks in the kitchen for all products produced in accordance with the SOP.
  • Monitor adherence to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (QA) programs.
  • Monitor adherence to our RMP program.
  • Ensure accurate and systematic adherence to relevant administration procedures.
  • Ensure training and support production staff in the implementation of in-line quality control and HACCP knowledge with CCP in process.
  • Provide guidance to the kitchen team to ensure all quality measures are maintained
  • Support ongoing compliance with appropriate regulatory and quality systems (e.g., OSH, HACCP).
  • Contribute to systems development and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess the quality of products prior to dispatch to customers.
  • Report all quality non-conformances and follow up with the supply team for input.
  • Monitor onsite cleaning and sanitation processes through ATP (surface) testing.
  • Ensure relevant testing equipment is calibrated as per the schedule.
  • Ensure food handling operations comply with documented procedures and food safety guidelines.
  • Work as a key member of the kitchen and warehousing teams, assisting with duties as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with operational timeframes (e.g., dispatch schedules) and customer deadlines.
  • Establish sound communication links with all internal staff, particularly Key Account Managers, Operations, Compliance, and procurement.
  • Assist with new product development
  • Correctly manage equipment and other resources.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Proven experience within the Food manufacturing sector.
  • Experience in conducting quality assessments of products, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and food safety guidelines.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with supervisors and other departments.
  • Strong communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills for handling on-the-spot challenges related to quality control and operational issues.
  • Knowledge of food safety, warehouse safety regulations, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Proficiency in ensuring site cleanliness and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to systems development and quality improvement initiatives.
