Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

The Company

Our client is an established New Zealand food manufacturer with a strong focus on product quality, food safety and regulatory compliance.

Operating in a busy manufacturing environment, the business has well-established quality systems and is looking for someone who can become an important part of its day-to-day quality and compliance function.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has already built solid experience in a hands‑on Quality Assurance role and is now ready to broaden their responsibilities.

You don't need to be a Quality Manager. In fact, this role is likely to suit someone currently working as a QA Technician, Quality Coordinator or similar who wants greater exposure to audits, regulatory compliance, non‑conformances, product release and wider quality systems.

It's still a very practical role. You'll spend time working with production, reviewing documentation, completing GMP checks, following up quality issues and ensuring products meet requirements before release.

Alongside this, you'll progressively take ownership of a wider range of quality and compliance activities.

The Role

Working closely with manufacturing and other internal teams, you'll help ensure the site maintains its food safety, quality and regulatory standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing daily quality and compliance checks and supporting positive product release
  • Reviewing production records, pasteurisation documentation and traceability information
  • Coordinating product, environmental and microbiological testing
  • Conducting GMP, documentation and other internal audits
  • Managing customer complaints and coordinating non‑conformances and corrective actions
  • Maintaining quality records, registers, certificates of analysis and compliance documentation
  • Supporting external audits and coordinating follow-up actions and close-outs
  • Helping maintain compliance with the site's Risk Management Programme, National Programme and relevant food and dairy regulations
  • Supporting export and import compliance requirements
  • Coordinating calibration and verification activities
  • Contributing to quality meetings, reporting and the annual quality programme

The position also has involvement in broader site compliance activities, providing useful exposure to areas such as biosecurity, HSNO and health and safety.

Skills & Experience

We're looking for someone who has developed a good grounding in quality within a food manufacturing environment and is ready to take on more.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Previous hands‑on experience in food manufacturing Quality Assurance or Quality Control
  • Practical understanding of GMP, HACCP and food safety systems
  • Experience reviewing production and quality documentation
  • Some exposure to audits, non‑conformances, corrective actions or complaint investigation
  • Good attention to detail and confidence maintaining quality records
  • The ability to work effectively with production teams and follow issues through to completion
  • A practical, organised approach and willingness to get involved

Experience with dairy regulations, RMPs, export requirements or regulatory audits would be useful, but isn't essential if you have the right foundation and are keen to develop.

Most importantly, this role needs someone who enjoys being hands‑on with quality. You’ll need to be comfortable moving between the production floor, quality records, testing, investigations and compliance activities rather than working purely at a systems or management level.

Take the Next Step

If you’ve developed good practical QA experience and feel ready for more ownership, this could be an ideal next move.

You’ll get the opportunity to broaden your quality knowledge, gain greater exposure to regulatory and compliance activities and develop towards more senior quality roles in the future.
