Qualifications

  • Good understanding of Te Whāriki and current ECE practice in Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • Kind, calm, patient and enjoys working with young children.

Responsibilities

  • Build warm, respectful and responsive relationships with tamariki and whānau.
  • Plan and provide meaningful learning experiences based on children's interests, strengths and emerging needs.
  • Contribute to individual and group planning, assessment and evaluation.
  • Write learning stories and maintain children's portfolios.
  • Support an inclusive environment that values children's cultures, languages and identities.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team and contribute positively to centre life.
  • Support mixed-age groups and encourage tuakana–teina relationships.
  • Participate in centre experiences such as park walks, gardening, baking, music, science, sensory play and inquiry-based learning.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and professional practice.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.

Kauri Seeds Preschool, nestled in the heart of Epsom, is a small and welcoming early childhood centre catering for children from three months to school age, with a capacity for 37 tamariki.
