Job summary

City Preschool on Upper Queen Street in central Auckland is seeking an exceptionally caring, nurturing early childhood teacher to join our small, boutique centre. You will provide warm, responsive care and connect daily learning to Te Whāriki in a supportive team environment.

You will document children's progress, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to curriculum planning while building strong relationships with whānau.

Qualifications

• Must hold a recognised NZ ECE teaching qualification.
• Current Teaching Council registration and practising certificate.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.

We are a small, boutique early childhood centre located on Upper Queen Street in central Auckland, licensed for up to 25 children. We pride ourselves on providing a warm, nurturing, and family-focused environment where children feel safe, valued, and supported to learn and grow.

We have a wonderful, highly experienced and registered teaching team, with a range of additional competencies and strengths.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for an exceptionally caring, nurturing, and passionate teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will:

• have a genuine passion for working with young children
• provide warm, responsive, and nurturing care
• have an in-depth understanding of curriculum planning and assessment
• be confident in linking learning experiences and intentional teaching to Te Whāriki
• understand and implement child-led and intentional learning
• be able to document children's learning and identify meaningful learning outcomes
• have a strong understanding of Te Whāriki principles, strands, goals, and learning dispositions
• demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills
• be committed to building respectful and meaningful relationships with children, whānau, and colleagues
• be enthusiastic about continuous professional growth and contributing positively to our centre culture.

Applicants must hold a recognised NZ ECE teaching qualification, current Teaching Council registration and a practising certificate, and be eligible to work in New Zealand.
