Job description

Support the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across New Zealand, join our large, diverse and collaborative national support team, bring financial, reporting, communication and coordination skills. Transpower owns and operates New Zealand’s National Grid – the high‑voltage transmission network connecting areas of generation with towns and cities across the motu. Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand – a future that delivers a net‑zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.

About the team

Grid Delivery oversees all work on the national grid, including capital project and maintenance activities delivered with our service provider organisations. We manage approximately $700M in capital and $150M in maintenance expenditure annually, with significant growth forecast. Our national Project Support team plays a critical role in enabling this work, providing project support and performance services to over 70 Project Managers and Programme Managers, delivering grid capital investigation and build projects.

About the opportunity – support delivery of multiple projects

We are seeking a proactive, experienced Project/Programme Coordinator with excellent communication skills who thrives in a busy, fast‑paced environment. Our ideal candidate is tech savvy, enjoys working closely with others, has strong financial acumen and attention to detail, and thinks several steps ahead to anticipate upcoming priorities and challenges. Based in Ōtara Auckland, you’ll provide end‑to‑end support to Grid Delivery Project Managers. Working collaboratively, you’ll build strong relationships with stakeholders, coordinate activities for multi projects concurrently, manage information accurately, and help ensure efficient project support to enable project delivery to a high standard. If you’re looking for interesting, challenging and meaningful project coordination work, this role offers both.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Supporting multiple project professionals, as the key point of contact for project coordination and information, and administration across the project lifecycle.
  • Working with Project Managers and our finance team coordinating and supporting financial management including project forecasting, processing invoicing, accruals and variance reporting
  • Monitoring and analysing project reports and performance metrics
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and identifying opportunities for greater efficiency
About you

You’re an administrator or coordinator with project coordination experience. A team player who is curious, enjoys learning, loves supporting others, and is comfortable context switching as the day requires. You bring a positive, practical mindset and excellent attention to detail.

To be considered, your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:
  • Outstanding organisational, coordination and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep projects running smoothly
  • Sound financial acumen and familiarity with financial management systems
  • Experience (or a strong interest in) project or programme coordination
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and exceptions
  • Advanced capability using Microsoft Office and Office 365, Excel and ideally Microsoft Project or Oracle/SAP
While not essential, please share with us if you have:
  • Experience documenting business processes, procedures or training materials
  • A project management qualification (CAPM, PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent)
  • interest in AI‑enabled tools (such as Microsoft Copilot) or systems and a desire to build your capability in this area to support continuous improvement
What sets this role apart?

You’ll build practical project coordination experience on infrastructure projects that deliver value to New Zealand. Our busy team is supportive and generous with their time and knowledge, and you’ll be backed with the training, encouragement and the tools you need to become even more efficient and effective.
