You will manage projects end-to-end, coordinate clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, while monitoring budgets, risks and programme milestones to deliver on time and to the highest standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong NZ construction or building services experience.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Experience in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC or related building services advantageous.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding.
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish.
  • Strong subcontractor, supplier and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Proactive and practical approach to project delivery.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from commencement through to completion.
  • Take ownership of project delivery, programme and commercial outcomes.
  • Manage client and consultant relationships.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and trades.
  • Manage procurement and subcontractor packages.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs and forecasting.
  • Manage variations, claims and project documentation.
  • Coordinate project programmes and key milestones.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular project reporting.
  • Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Work closely with the estimating, operations and wider project teams.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established and growing business with a strong reputation across the building services sector. They are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join their Queenstown team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in commercial building services, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC or related service-based projects who is looking to take the next step in their career.

The business has a strong pipeline of work and a reputation for delivering quality projects while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and industry partners.

You will have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of projects, working closely with the wider team to manage delivery from commencement through to completion.

This is a role where you will have autonomy and responsibility, while still having the support of an experienced and collaborative team around you.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of commercial building services projects across the Queenstown region.

You will work closely with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.

The role will suit someone who enjoys being hands-on, building strong relationships and taking ownership of the full project lifecycle.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Strong New Zealand construction or building services experience
  • Proven Project Management experience
  • Experience within mechanical, plumbing, HVAC or another building services environment would be advantageous
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish
  • Strong subcontractor, supplier and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and project documentation
  • A proactive and practical approach to project delivery
  • The confidence to take ownership and make decisions
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team
