Job summary

Fluid Recruitment Limited in Christchurch is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for a commercial construction portfolio spanning retail, hospitality and specialist projects. You’ll own projects end-to-end from tender through to delivery.

This senior, non-site-only role requires strong procurement, programming and subcontractor management, with the ability to discuss budgets with executives and maintain client relationships. Must have NZ working entitlements.

Qualifications

• Proven end-to-end Project Management experience within commercial construction
• Commercial fitout, refurbishment or similar experience
• Procurement, tendering, programming and subcontractor management skills
• Experience with MS Project and Excel; Procore advantageous
• Strong communication with trades and senior stakeholders
• Practical understanding of construction and relationships with delivery teams

Responsibilities

• Own projects from tender through to completion with genuine ownership
• Coordinate trades, procurement, budgets and programming
• Prepare and present reporting to senior executives and clients
• Engage with trades and subcontractors to delivery milestones

Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for your next role in commercial construction?

We're working with a growing Christchurch construction and design business delivering a mix of commercial, hospitality, tourism and specialist projects.

The role

This is a senior role with genuine ownership of projects up to $5M, from tender through to completion.

You'll be working across commercial fitouts, office refurbishments, building strengthening, hospitality, tourism and specialist projects, coordinating everything from trades and procurement through to budgets, programming and client reporting.

This isn't a purely site-based role, nor a client-side position. You'll need to be comfortable working alongside trades and subcontractors while also sitting in the boardroom with senior executives and confidently discussing project budgets, programmes and delivery.

What you'll need

• Proven end-to-end Project Management experience within commercial construction
• Commercial fitout, refurbishment or similar experience
• Strong procurement, tendering, programming and subcontractor management skills
• Experience with MS Project and Excel, with Procore advantageous
• Strong communication skills and the ability to deal comfortably with both trades and senior stakeholders
• A practical understanding of construction and the ability to build strong relationships with the people delivering the work

A trade background would be well regarded, but we're more interested in your practical experience, commercial understanding and ability to manage projects from start to finish.
