Job summary

Apollo Projects is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a Hawke's Bay commercial build from design through to practical completion, reporting to the Construction Director. You will work hands-on with the client and project team to deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Based in Hawke's Bay, you will develop programmes, manage procurement and contracts, and ensure safety and collaboration across site teams, consultants, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a Project Manager role within commercial construction in NZ.
• Ability to lead and motivate construction teams with a strong work ethic.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; design & build experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing cost control management, including budget setup and ongoing monitoring.
• Developing programmes with site teams, subcontractors and consultants.
• Managing procurement and contract administration in collaboration with the project team.
• Fostering a collaborative environment with clients, consultants, subcontractors and colleagues.
• Contributing to on-site health and safety strategies as a priority.

About the Role:

Primarily based in Hawke's Bay, and reporting to the Construction Director, you will take a project from early design through to practical completion; working on behalf of the client but in a very hands‑on project management role. Your duties will also include:

• Overseeing cost control management, including budget set up, ensuring your finger is on the pulse at all times
• Developing a range of programmes in collaboration with site teams, subcontractors and consultants
• Alongside the project team, take an active role in managing procurement and contract management
• Building a collaborative environment with the client, consulants, subcontractors and colleagues
• Proactively contribute to the health & safety strategies on site ensuring safety is a high priority

About You:

You will have excellent commercial construction knowledge, be an action orientated individual that will add value and continuously strive for the best! In addition to this, you will have the following attributes:

• A minimum of 7+ years' experience in a Project Manager role, in the commercial construction environment within New Zealand, preferably in design and build
• The ability to be an effective and collaborative team member with a great work ethic and ability to motivate construction teams
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Previous experience in Design & Build is advantageous
• Confident with the full MS Suite & navigating MS Project software
• Experience using Procore & Jobpac would be an advantage
• Willing to travel Mon-Fri after project completion if required
