Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a pragmatic Project Manager for a design & build contractor with strong NZ presence. The role involves delivering commercial projects from pre-construction to handover, keeping schedule and budget on track, and coordinating with clients, consultants, and internal teams across Wellington and Palmerston North.

You will need a proven track record in commercial construction project management, with a background in design & build or ECI as a plus.

Job description

Do you take pride in getting the fundamentals of your role and projects right, with good planning, honest communication, and a hands on approach that keeps a build on track? If you’re the sort of PM who likes to be involved in the nitty gritty detail rather than managing from a distance, this could be for you.

This role sits with an established design & build contractor with a strong footprint across the lower North Island. With decades in the industry, they’ve built a reputation for delivering commercial, residential, community and education projects the right way, operating in a steady, professional manner, and developing strong relationships at the same time. Early contractor involvement is central to how they work, and they put great effort into setting projects up for success before the projects get out of the ground.

They’re now looking to bring Project Managers into both their Palmerston North and Wellington teams, having secured a stable pipeline of work.

What you’ll be doing:

• Running commercial projects from pre-construction right through to handover
• Keeping programme, budget, quality, safety and subcontractors all moving in the right direction
• Acting as the key point of contact for clients, consultants and internal teams
• Bringing practical, buildable thinking to the table and staying close to what’s happening on site

What we’re after:

A proven track record in commercial construction project management, and the confidence to run your own projects or take ownership of significant packages within larger builds. A background in design & build or ECI is a plus, and they’re looking for someone with a genuine and personable style who builds trust easily with the people around them.
