Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

GC Group Management Ltd – Inglewood, North Island

The Project Manager will lead and support the delivery of strategic projects across the Group, with a primary focus on progressing the Group's pelletised fertiliser initiative from trial through to a commercially validated, scaled operation. Beyond pelletisation, the role spans the Group's wider innovation initiatives — including value-add product development (e.g. humates, composting, biologicals), market expansion, and technology/process improvements applying the same stage-gated approach to bring new products to market with appropriate pace, rigour, and governance, ensuring all projects align with our soil health, sustainability, and growth objectives. From time to time, the role may also be called on to support the delivery of broader business initiatives outside product innovation.

Key responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver assigned projects on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable project plans and milestones.
  • Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor project risks, dependencies, and deliverables, and elevate as needed.
  • Prepare regular updates, reports, and recommendations for the Leadership Team.
  • Lead individual initiatives through the Group's stage-gated innovation process, preparing the information and business case required to pass each gate.
  • Build and maintain robust business cases, including cost, revenue, and investment assumptions, working with functional leads to validate figures.
  • Facilitate structured working sessions with subject matter experts to capture technical, cost, and market knowledge, and reconcile conflicting inputs into a single validated view.
  • Coordinate external partners, contractors, and research providers to keep technical workstreams on track and within budget.
  • Manage project budgets and track actual spend against approved investment.
About you
  • Tertiary qualification in business, engineering, agribusiness, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years' project management experience, ideally including new product development or innovation delivery.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver projects, preferably in agriculture, food, or related industries.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills.
  • Effective communicator, able to engage across teams, customers, and industry partners.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical solutions.
  • Financially literate, with confidence building and interrogating cost models, business cases, and ROI analysis.
  • Skilled facilitator, able to draw out and reconcile knowledge from stakeholders with different technical and commercial perspectives.
  • High personal accountability and self-direction, comfortable operating autonomously in a small, resource-lean team.
  • Proficient with common project and collaboration tools (e.g. Microsoft Teams, SharePoint).
