Job summary

Goodman Fielder is expanding Meadow Fresh in Christchurch and seeks an experienced Project Manager to deliver a major capital project end-to-end—from detailed design and procurement through commissioning and handover. You will work with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure safety, on-time delivery, within budget and high quality in a live manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Engineering (Chemical, Process or Mechanical). PMP or PRINCE2 certification highly regarded.
• Project organisation, cost estimation and scheduling including scope and technical specs.
• Hygienic design experience and Safety in Design knowledge.
• Experience with change management and contract management principles.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D layouts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of capital projects from detailed design and procurement through to commissioning and handover.
• Manage project budgets, capital expenditure, cash flow forecasts, schedules and risks.
• Oversee engineering, design, construction and contractor activities across processing, packaging, automation, utilities and building works.
• Drive contractor, supplier and OEM performance against milestones and KPIs.
• Lead stakeholder communication and governance with regular project reporting.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, Safety in Design and food safety regulations.
• Support commissioning, testing and successful transition of assets into production.

Our Opportunity oodman Fielder is expanding production capability at our Meadow Fresh manufacturing site in Christchurch and we're looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major capital project. Reporting to the National Project Manager, this role is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of a complex expansion project, from detailed design and procurement through to commissioning and operational handover. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you'll ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while minimising disruption to the live manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of capital projects from detailed design and procurement through to commissioning and operational handover.
• Manage project budgets, capital expenditure, cash flow forecasts, schedules and project risks to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
• Oversee engineering, design, construction and contractor activities across processing, packaging, automation, utilities and building works.
• Drive contractor, supplier and OEM performance, ensuring delivery against contractual milestones, KPIs and project objectives.
• Lead stakeholder communication and governance, providing regular reporting on project status, risks and key decisions.
• Ensure compliance with Goodman Fielder engineering standards, Safety in Design principles, statutory requirements and food safety regulations.
• Support commissioning, testing, operational readiness and the successful transition of assets into production.

Note: This is a fixed-term role for the duration of 24 months. There is a potential for extension based on project approvals.

About You

In order to make this role a success we are looking for an experienced Project Manager that has a track record of delivering projects in the Dairy (preferable) or Food manufacturing industries. Other experience, qualifications and skillsets we're looking for, include:

• Qualification in Engineering (Chemical, Process or Mechanical). PMP or PRINCE2 certification will be highly regarded
• Project organisation, cost estimation & schedule development including scope of work & technical specifications
• Hygienic design experience, Safety in Design and HAZOP workshop experience
• Experience with change management, design management, and an understanding of contract management principles
• Capability with AutoCAD for 2D layouts is preferred
