Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join the Invercargill team. This role focuses on planning, scheduling, and compliance for large-scale infrastructure projects.

You will develop and manage project schedules, co-ordinate tasks, and oversee crews and subcontractors to deliver on time, on budget, and to safety standards. The position offers ongoing training in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience as a Project Engineer in land development and civil infrastructure.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Site layout, utility design, grading and regulatory compliance.
  • Budgeting, cost control and forecasting.
  • Project delivery including surveying and permits.
  • Able to read drawings, plans and Inspection Test Plans.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

Our client is a tier 1 contractor with expertise in delivering complex infrastructure projects.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join their Invercargill Team.

The Role

With a strong focus on planning, scheduling, and compliance, you will be a key contributor to the success of large-scale projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources, materials, and labour.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and delegate tasks for the safe, efficient delivery of the project
  • Oversee internal crews and subcontractors ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Maintain daily site records
  • Conduct regular inspections to monitor progress and compliance with safety and quality regulations.
  • Ensure all projects are completed within budget while maintaining high-quality and safety standards.
Skills And Experience
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience as a Project Engineer within land development and civil infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in meeting project deadlines and budgets.
  • Skilled in site layout, utility design, grading, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong commercial acumen in budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
  • Expertise in project delivery, including surveying and permits
  • Able to read drawings, plans, and Inspection Test Plans
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated and committed to delivering high-quality work.
