Job summary

ADB Safegate seeks an Airfield Lighting Electrician based in Wellington, NZ, with opportunities to travel across New Zealand and occasionally to Australia. The role involves outdoor electrical work, testing, and live-airfield coordination within a projects team, delivering critical aviation solutions.

Qualifications

• EWRB Trade Qualification (current electrical practicing license) is required.
• Minimum 5 years as a qualified electrician.
• Willing to travel across New Zealand and Australia.

• Familiarity with operating on live airfields and coordinating with Air Traffic Control (ATC).

This role will be primarily based at Wellington International Airport, offering the chance to work at one of New Zealand’s key travel hubs. However, the work doesn’t just stop in Wellington! You’ll need to be comfortable with traveling to other airfields around New Zealand and occasionally even Australia. While living away from home for short or extended periods, you’ll enjoy fully covered flights, accommodation, vehicles, and daily allowances—so you can focus fully on your craft and grow your skills.

The Opportunity

Electrical Installations: From cables to transformers, ensuring assets are installed to design specifications.

Testing & Commissioning: Ensuring all airfield systems work flawlessly and meet safety standards.

Site Coordination: Collaborating with civil contractors to guide underground service installations.

Active Airfield Operations: Be on-site while ensuring aircraft and airport services are always operational.

Safety Excellence: Maintain a strong commitment to health, safety, and precision as you coordinate on live taxiways and runways.

What You’ll Bring

EWRB Trade Qualification: Current electrical practicing license required.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years as a qualified electrician.

Location Flexibility: Be excited to work primarily in Wellington while being ready to travel across New Zealand and Australia when required.

Physical Fitness: Ready to perform in a demanding outdoor role.

Teamwork & Initiative: Proactive, positive, and a strong communicator who works well with others.

Safety Awareness: Familiarity with operating on live airfields and communicating effectively with Air Traffic Control (ATC).

Extra credit if you have experience in airfield lighting, but don’t worry—we provide extensive training for newcomers.
