Position Title: Electrician - Maintenance Technician
Location: Auckland
Reporting to: Service Delivery Lead - Maintenance
Employment Type: Full time
Hours of Work: Minimum 40 hours per week, with occasional after-hours or weekend work as required.
Role Purpose
The Electrician - Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out a wide range of electrical installation, repair and maintenance works across our client's commercial and residential property portfolio throughout Auckland. The role involves both reactive maintenance and planned electrical works and requires a practical, safety-focused individual capable of working independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and compliance. This is a field-based role involving daily travel between sites across Auckland.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance & Installation Works
- Carry out general electrical maintenance, installation and fault-finding tasks across multiple sites.
- Complete repairs including switchboards, wiring, lighting, power outlets and minor electrical fit-out works.
- Undertake small electrical upgrade, remediation and repair projects where required.
- Identify electrical faults and maintenance issues on site and provide practical and cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure all works are completed to a high professional standard and in accordance with AS/NZS wiring rules.
- Assist with general handyman tasks or support other trades during quieter periods, as required.
Health & Safety
- Comply with all company health and safety policies and procedures, including electrical safety regulations.
- Complete required site documentation including JSAs, hazard identification and job close-off requirements.
- Maintain safe work practices at all times.
- Ensure company tools, test equipment and vehicles are maintained in safe working condition, including regular calibration checks.
Systems & Administration
- Maintain accurate job notes, photos and documentation through company systems.
- Communicate effectively with scheduling and service delivery teams regarding job progress, delays or issues.
- Ensure jobs are completed, documented and closed off within required timeframes.
Client & Team Communication
- Represent the business professionally while on site.
- Provide courteous and professional service to clients, tenants and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience as a qualified Electrician, ideally within maintenance or commercial environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs efficiently.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills.
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Current New Zealand Practising Licence through the Electrical Workers Registration Board.
- Full New Zealand Driver's Licence.
- Ability to pass standard pre-employment checks.
Preferred
- NZ Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent trade qualification.
- Experience working within commercial or facilities maintenance environments.
- Own tools and calibrated test equipment.
- HVAC experience would be an advantage.
