Job summary

Queenstown Lakes District Council in Queenstown, South Island, is seeking a Project Coordinator in Economic Development to drive delivery of programs, manage budgets, and coordinate workshops while building partnerships to boost local growth.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in business, business support or local government environments.
  • Project and budget management experience, ideally including Agile.
  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills with the ability to work confidently across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent communication and digital literacy, ideally with experience using Microsoft suite.
  • A process-improvement mindset with strong attention to detail and confidence managing systems.
  • High motivation and adaptability, with proven ability to manage changing priorities and deliver quality outcomes.
  • Strong appetite to contribute to community wellbeing and support positive outcomes for the district.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to workshops and events that shape the district’s economic direction.
  • Coordinating and tracking a portfolio of complex projects to ensure delivery on time and within budget.
  • Administering budgets and funding, including government funding sources and external funding applications.
  • Managing procurement and contract processes, including MOUs, supplier agreements and accountability reporting.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships across QLDC, industry partners, government agencies and the business community.
  • Supporting Agile ways of working amongst the team and identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.
  • Representing QLDC at sector and industry events and supporting occasional out-of-hours activities when required.

The Economic Futures team work to support tourism be a force for good, diversify our economy and facilitate events we can be proud of. We’re looking for a Project Coordinator to support delivery across the Economic Futures team and portfolio.

What you’ll be doing / He aha te mahi

You’ll play a key role in driving the smooth delivery of projects and programmes that support long-term economic outcomes for our district. This role blends administration, coordination and relationship-building — ideal for someone who enjoys variety, collaboration, and contributing to meaningful work that supports our community.

The role will involve:
