Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is seeking a highly organised and proactive Programme Coordinator to join our Professional Learning and Development team until 26 January 2027.   • Experience in a coordination, project support or administration role involving scheduling, tracking and reporting
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work with learning systems
  • Understanding of tikanga Māori and culturally responsive work

Mō te ūunga | About the role

We have an exciting fixed-term or secondment opportunity for a highly organised and proactive Programme Coordinator to join our Professional Learning and Development team until 26 January 2027.

Reporting to the Manager Learning Design, this role plays an important part in supporting the successful delivery of learning and development initiatives across Oranga Tamariki. Working closely with Learning Designers and Learning Facilitators, you will provide programme co-ordination, administration, reporting, and technology support to ensure learning solutions are delivered effectively and on time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating training deployments and supporting programme delivery
  • Monitoring learning completion and following up with stakeholders as required
  • Maintaining data integrity within learning systems and technologies
  • Providing support and advice to users of the Learning Management System and other learning platforms
  • Producing reports and analysing learning and development data
  • Supporting project activities, tracking progress, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Building strong relationships with managers, facilitators, and key stakeholders across the business.

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Experience in a co-ordination, project support, or administration role involving scheduling, tracking, and reporting
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Confidence working with systems and technology, including learning management systems or similar platforms
  • An understanding and appreciation of tikanga Māori and working in a culturally responsive way

Oranga Tamariki offer a step-based remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts between $62,500 and $68,781 pro rated dependent on experience.
