Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is seeking an administrative support person to join the Care & Protection team at our Waitakere Site in Henderson. You will assist Social Work kaimahi with financial plans, data collection and scheduling, liaising with vendors and staff, and reception duties.

The role requires a full NZ driver licence, strong IT and computer skills, and ability to work with diverse communities.

Qualifications

  • Full clean New Zealand driver’s licence required.
  • Experience with Health and Safety aspects.
  • Strong computer/IT knowledge.
  • Administration skills such as typing, reporting and responding to site needs.
  • Cultural awareness and understanding of Tikanga Māori principles.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the administration needs of Social Work kaimahi including but not limited to the following:
  • Assistance with financial plans, data collection and scheduling
  • Liaising with vendors, casual staff, and other stakeholders
  • Working with various cultural groups and people from different backgrounds
  • Booking rooms, answering phones, and assisting on the reception desk
  • Organising welcomes/whakatau for newcomers and whānau as and when required
  • Dealing with critical scenarios in a calm, professional manner

  • Competitive salary ranging from $57,096 to $62,773, depending on experience

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Full clean New Zealand drivers licence is required
  • Supporting the team with all aspects of Health and Safety
  • Possession of a strong computer and IT knowledge
  • Administration skills such as typing, reporting and responding to Site needs
  • Cultural awareness and an understanding of Tikanga Māori principles
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Strong time management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
