Job summary

Fletcher Building Limited, via GIB® Plasterboard, is seeking an experienced Production Operator Supervisor to lead a high‑volume manufacturing line in Tauriko. You will direct approximately 10 direct reports, coordinate daily production activities, and drive performance targets, quality, safety and customer service in a fast‑paced, safety‑led environment.

Hours include rotating day and night shifts; weekends not typical, with Sundays off.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent planning, organisation and attention to detail.

GIB® Plasterboard is a household name in New Zealand construction, and a part of Fletcher Building. For almost 100 years, we’ve been helping build healthier, more sustainable homes with two manufacturing plants in Tauranga and Christchurch and distribution facilities across the country. We are currently looking for reliable, practical and safety-conscious Production Operators to join our manufacturing team in the Board Plant at our Tauriko plant -a high-volume, safety-led manufacturing environment where teamwork and reliability matter.

The Role

Our manufacturing plant involves highly automated manufacturing lines, combining advanced machinery, process control systems, and real-time quality monitoring on a continuous line. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role will see you lead all production activities through effective leadership of ~10 direct reports. This is a hands‑on role that will require a combination of line supervision and day‑to‑day tasks to meet performance targets and objectives, product quality and supply and customer service targets whilst fostering a strong culture of health and safety.

Hours of work: This role runs on a rotating day and night shift pattern working three to four 12‑hour shifts between Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday work may be required; Sundays are always free. Rosters are planned well in advance and shared evenly across the team.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have at least 5 years’ experience in a technical manufacturing environment coupled with people leadership accountability. In addition to this you will have;

• Experience leading a team to great successes.
• A high degree of mechanical aptitude, technical know‑how and problem‑solving skills.
• The ability to influence, build partnerships and gain buy‑in from manufacturing teams.
• Excellent planning and organisation skills coupled with high attention to detail.
• High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work 12 hour shifts across day/night rotations.
