As Production Manager, you will be in control of the workflow from final design through procurement, fabrication, assembly, testing, and dispatch. You will keep multiple projects moving, identify issues early and ensure everyone has clear priorities and the information needed to deliver.
Key responsibilitiesPlanning and coordinating production across multiple projects, from final design release through to assembly, testing, and dispatch
Working closely with engineering, project, and procurement teams to resolve issues and maintain delivery timeframes
Coordinating workshop resources, contractors, suppliers, and competing production priorities
Overseeing inwards goods, including receipting, quality checks and ensuring items are correctly allocated to projects
Maintaining effective stock and inventory controls, with clear visibility over materials, equipment, and project requirements
Coordinating freight, logistics and dispatch to support project delivery
Ensuring machinery and systems are manufactured safely, efficiently and in accordance with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements
Maintaining oversight of Vertex Group's buildings and property, including repairs, maintenance, and contractor coordination
Overseeing the maintenance and availability of workshop plant, tools, equipment, and pool vehicles
Improving operational systems, workflow, reporting, and accountability
About youStrong understanding of mechanical engineering, fabrication, or equipment manufacture
Proven experience coordinating people, projects and operational activities
An effective planner who can manage multiple projects, resources and competing priorities
Confident interpreting technical drawings and practical manufacturing requirements
Technically credible, with practical knowledge of how mechanical equipment is manufactured and assembled
A professional communicator who works effectively with engineers, workshop teams, suppliers, contractors and customers
Commercially aware, calm and decisive when issues arise
Systems-focused and confident using technology to improve workflow, visibility and accountability
Experience delivering engineering equipment or projects within demanding dairy-processing, food-manufacturing or major industrial environments
A relevant trade, engineering or management qualification would be useful, but proven capability and relevant industry experience are more important.
While the title is Production Manager, similar roles may be known elsewhere as Workshop Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Engineering Operations Manager.
