Job summary

Genesis Energy NZ is seeking a commercially minded Procurement Specialist to help us secure best value across Technology, Sales and Marketing, Retail, Finance and more. You’ll lead end-to-end sourcing, negotiate terms and manage supplier relationships within a collaborative Corporate Services team.

You’ll work with stakeholders to identify opportunities, assess risks and drive value while delivering practical procurement outcomes that support our energy future for Aotearoa New Zealand.

Qualifications

• End-to-end procurement experience in a complex commercial environment.
• Experience with sourcing, supplier selection and negotiating contracts and terms.
• Strong commercial thinking, including cost, value and contractual risk.
• The ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and communicate clearly.
• Technology procurement experience would be an advantage.

What you’ll do:

As a commercially minded Procurement Specialist, you’ll help Genesis get the best value from the goods and services we buy.

Reporting to our Procurement Manager for Corporate Services, you’ll manage a range of end-to-end procurement activities across a diverse portfolio including Technology (including Digital), Sales and Marketing, Retail operations, Finance, People and Culture and other Corporate Services.

This is much more than running sourcing processes. You’ll work alongside stakeholders to understand what they’re trying to achieve, challenge thinking where appropriate, identify commercial opportunities and risks, and determine the best approach to market and suppliers.

You’ll have the opportunity to lead procurement activity independently while working as part of a supportive team on larger or more complex initiatives.

What you’ll need:

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people and solving commercial problems. You’ll be curious, pragmatic and willing to ask questions and respectfully challenge the status quo.

You don’t need to know everything on day one. What matters is that you bring sound commercial judgement, a willingness to learn and the confidence to take ownership of your work.

. You’ll be proactive and adaptable, able to work across different subject areas while contributing positively to a collaborative procurement team.

• Around 3–5 years’ procurement experience in a complex commercial environment.
• Experience with sourcing, supplier selection and negotiating contracts and commercial terms.
• Strong commercial thinking, including an understanding of cost, value and contractual risk.
• The ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and communicate clearly and confidently.
• Technology procurement experience would be an advantage.
