Job summary

Genesis in New Zealand is seeking a commercially minded Procurement Specialist to optimise value across Technology, Sales & Marketing, Retail, Finance and People & Culture. You will report to the Procurement Manager for Corporate Services and lead end-to-end sourcing, supplier selection, contracting and risk review.

Drive value through strong relationships, market insights and smarter ways of working, while balancing cost, risk and business needs across a diverse portfolio.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ procurement experience in a complex commercial environment.
• Experience with sourcing, supplier selection and negotiating contracts and terms.
• Strong commercial thinking, cost/value awareness and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Champion practical procurement best practice and smarter ways of working.
• Plan and deliver end-to-end sourcing activities from supplier selection to contracting and implementation.
• Assess commercial and contractual risks and provide clear recommendations.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver value.
• Use market and supplier insights to identify opportunities and inform strategies.
• Manage contract renewals with early planning and ongoing value.

What You’ll Do

As a commercially minded Procurement Specialist, you’ll help Genesis get the best value from the goods and services we buy.

Reporting to our Procurement Manager for Corporate Services, you’ll manage a range of end-to-end procurement activities across a diverse portfolio including Technology (including Digital), Sales and Marketing, Retail operations, Finance, People and Culture and other Corporate Services.

• Champion practical procurement best practice and smarter ways of working.
• Plan and deliver end to end sourcing activities, from supplier selection and negotiation through to contracting and implementation.
• Assess commercial and contractual risks, providing clear recommendations that support sound business decisions.
• Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to deliver successful outcomes.
• Use market and supplier insights to identify opportunities, improve value and inform procurement strategies.
• Manage a portfolio of contract renewals, ensuring early planning and continued value

What You’ll Need

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people and solving commercial problems. You’ll be curious, pragmatic and willing to ask questions and respectfully challenge the status quo.

You don’t need to know everything on day one. What matters is that you bring sound commercial judgement, a willingness to learn and the confidence to take ownership of your work.

• You’ll be proactive and adaptable, able to work across different subject areas while contributing positively to a collaborative procurement team.
• Around 3–5 years’ procurement experience in a complex commercial environment.
• Experience with sourcing, supplier selection and negotiating contracts and commercial terms.
• Strong commercial thinking, including an understanding of cost, value and contractual risk.
• The ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and communicate clearly and confidently.
• Technology procurement experience would be an advantage.
