Job summary
Tonkin + Taylor is seeking a Principal Water + Wastewater Engineer to lead our water supply, wastewater and network planning efforts across New Zealand. This leadership role focuses on understanding current network performance, forecasting future needs, and designing efficient infrastructure to serve communities.
The role involves guiding planning, modelling and design, overseeing project delivery, and mentoring junior staff.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Engineering or a related discipline.
- 15+ years' experience in water or wastewater design, hydraulic modelling or related field for Principal Engineer, or 5+ years for hydraulic modeller.
- Experience in consultancy or local government is an advantage.
- Experience in network modelling, hydraulic analysis, infrastructure planning, strategies or design.
Responsibilities
- Lead proposals, project planning and business development activities.
- Lead water supply and wastewater projects from planning through design to delivery.
- Develop, update and review hydraulic network models.
- Assess network performance, capacity and resilience.
- Support growth planning and infrastructure investment decisions.
- Develop network strategies and masterplans.
- Investigate constraints and evaluate improvement options.
- Lead design development for treatment and reticulation.
