Job summary
Tonkin + Taylor is seeking Principal Water + Wastewater Engineers or Hydraulic Modellers to lead our water networks team across New Zealand. The role focuses on understanding current network performance, planning for the future, and designing efficient infrastructure including reticulation and pump stations.
You will guide design teams, manage projects, and mentor junior staff while collaborating across offices.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Engineering or related discipline.
- 15+ years' experience in water or wastewater design or 5+ years for hydraulic modellers.
- Experience in consultancy or local government is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Lead proposals, project planning and business development activities.
- Lead water supply and wastewater projects from planning through design and delivery.
- Develop, update and review hydraulic network models.
- Assess network performance, capacity and resilience.
- Support growth planning and infrastructure investment decisions.
- Develop network strategies and masterplans.
- Investigate constraints and evaluate improvement options.
- Lead development of designs for concept to detailed stages for water and wastewater.
- Prepare and review reports and technical deliverables.
