Job summary

Foodies in New Zealand seeks a Principal Security Engineer to shape how security is designed, engineered, and delivered across the organisation. This senior role moves between architecture and hands-on engineering, defining standards and reusable patterns while partnering with engineers, architects, and product teams to solve complex security problems.

You will lead security engineering at enterprise scale, influence major decisions, and help teams deliver secure services with confidence,

Qualifications

• 10+ years security experience at Lead or Principal level in complex enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise across security engineering and architecture, including identity, cloud/platform, network and endpoint security, data protection, vulnerability management and secrets.
• Strong multi-cloud security experience across Azure, AWS and GCP, with hands-on capability in secure configuration, policy-as-code and pipeline security.
• Strong detection and response engineering experience, including SIEM/SOAR, threat detection, monitoring and security automation.
• Practical knowledge of security frameworks and regulated environments, including MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls and PCI.
• Strong automation and engineering capability, using technologies such as Python, Bash or PowerShell and modern Git-based delivery practices.
• Proven ability to set technical direction and influence major security decisions, while remaining pragmatic and hands-on.
• A strong communicator and trusted technical leader, comfortable influencing across engineering, architecture, product and senior stakeholders.
• Experience supporting business-critical, 24x7 services and providing senior technical leadership when it matters most.

We’re looking for an experienced Principal Security Engineer to help shape how security is designed, engineered and delivered across our organisation.

This is a senior technical leadership role for someone who can move confidently between architecture and hands‑on engineering. You’ll help shape security engineering at enterprise scale, defining work engineering standards and reusable patterns, guiding complex technical decisions, and partnering with engineers, architects and product teams to solve some of our most challenging security problems.

He Kōrero Mōu - About You
