Job summary

Raurimu Avenue School in Whangarei invites applications for a creative and courageous principal to lead our small, diverse community. The successful candidate will build strong links with whanau, lead Maori language and te reo Māori development, and drive equity and inclusive pedagogy using trauma‑informed practices.

Qualifications

• Proven teaching and leadership skills.

• Strong understanding of equity issues to meet individual student needs.
• Experience building strong links with the school community.

This is an exciting career opportunity for an innovative, courageous teacher/principal who is looking to take on more challenges.

We are seeking a creative, courageous principal who has experience building strong links with the school community.

Raurimu Avenue School, in Onerahi, Whangarei is a small school with awesome students, committed staff and a diverse, inclusive community.

Ideally, we would like our whanau to be more involved with the school.

We are looking for a confident leader who:

• Can lead the school using its CARE values
• Is approachable and empathetic
• Has experience engaging and working with whanau
• Has empathy and understanding and is able to develop a school culture that is inclusive
• Has good knowledge of current pedagogical practice and developing a local curriculum
• Uses trauma informed lens to develop practices and embed trauma-informed principles and training within our school
• Has mana and is able to enhance the mana and strengths of others
• Empowers others to grow professionally
• Has a commitment to Ngā tikanga Māori and advancement of te reo Māori in our school
• Can lead/support the school to its strategic goal of being fully bilingual
• Understands equity issues so that every student gets what they need to succeed as individuals
• Has the ability to lead a team to have the same understanding of equity issues
• Works with Maori to nurture the child through whanau relationships
• Has integrity and a great sense of humour.
• Has proven teaching and leadership skills
