Job summary

Consult Recruitment in Auckland seeks a Practice Manager to act as the operational backbone, aligning people, projects and processes for high-impact outcomes. Lead cross-functional teams, drive budgeting, risk and IT initiatives, and mentor staff to foster growth and efficiency.

You will partner with senior leadership to deliver consistent reporting and support business growth while promoting a collaborative and innovative culture. NZ residency or valid work permit is required.

  • Strong financial acumen spanning reporting, cash management, and commercial controls.
  • Proficient with modern ERP systems and process automation tools.
  • A clear and confident communicator who is capable of influencing diverse technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker who is skilled in driving change, managing risk, and leading teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end operational leadership across cross-functional workflows and multiple offices.
  • Lead cash flow management, budgeting, invoicing controls, and risk/compliance obligations.
  • Drive recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, L&D frameworks, and staff mentorship.
  • Manage IT strategy, vendor relations, system performance, and AI tool rollout.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and deliver regular operational and financial reporting to leadership.

About the Company

We are partnering with an innovative and growing New Zealand owned professional services firm, searching for a Practice Manager to help drive operational success. Headquartered in Takapuna, and with branches nationwide, they deliver a diverse range of projects across both the public and private sectors. Known for technical excellence and collaborative problem-solving, they deliver practical client outcomes while maintaining a supportive culture focused on professional growth and high-impact work. About the Role: As Practice Manager, you’ll be the operational backbone of the business, ensuring people, projects, and processes work seamlessly together to deliver exceptional outcomes. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you’ll drive operational excellence, support business growth, and create an environment where technical teams can thrive and focus on what they do best.

  • End-to-End Operational Leadership: Oversee cross-functional workflows, project administration, and multi-office facilities to ensure seamless delivery and team alignment.
  • Financial & Risk Governance: Lead cash flow management, budgeting, invoicing controls, and risk/compliance obligations while managing external fractional CFO relationships.
  • People & HR Oversight: Drive recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, L&D frameworks, and direct mentorship/leadership coaching for team managers and staff.
  • IT Strategy & AI Integration: Manage external IT vendors, system performance, and company-wide adoption, training, and rollout of AI tools.
  • Strategic Initiatives & Reporting: Lead cross-functional company projects (e.g., system integrations, vendor transitions), coordinate marketing efforts, and deliver consistent operational and financial reporting to executive leadership.
