Job summary

CentrePort Limited in Wellington is recruiting a Security Officer for a full-time role on a 24/7 rotating roster. You will protect our operations, assets and people across the port facility and contribute to a safe, compliant environment.

You will conduct patrols, control access, respond to alarms, support compliance and operate security systems while delivering excellent customer service to port users.

Qualifications

• Some prior security experience is desirable with a willingness to learn.
• Good physical fitness and health/safety commitment; outdoor work and manual handling.
• Strong communication and customer service skills; professional approach.
• Ability to work rotating day and night shifts; flexible rostering.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of the port facilities.
• Manage secure area access and respond to alarms.
• Support compliance procedures and reporting.
• Operate security systems and CCTV where applicable.
• Provide excellent customer service to port users.
• Assist with safeguarding people and assets.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in protecting our operations, assets, and people. You’ll conduct regular patrols, manage secure area access, respond to alarms and incidents, support compliance procedures, operate security systems, and provide excellent customer service to port users. You’ll join the team responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our port facility under the Maritime Security Act and the ISPS Code. This is a full-time position on a 24/7 rotating roster.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Some previous security experience is desirable with a willingness to continue learning and developing your skills. Extensive experience is not required — we’re looking for someone with the right attitude and potential to grow their security career.
• Good physical fitnessand a strong commitment to health and safety, with the ability to work outdoors and perform manual handling and vehicle-related duties.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with a professional, reliable and responsible approach.
• Flexibility to work rotating day and night shiftsand adapt to changing situations.
• A full, clean Class 1 driver licence, confidence using computers, and ideally some experience with CCTV or security systems.
