Job summary

Ministry of Health New Zealand is seeking a Policy Analyst in Strategy and Policy to contribute to meaningful policy work supporting decisions across the health system and government. You’ll focus on the Government’s response to the Royal Commission’s report, building policy expertise in a cross-agency environment.

Working with experienced policy professionals, health experts and stakeholders, you’ll help develop evidence-informed advice that influences outcomes for communities across Aotearoa.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in health or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing policy advice or understanding of social policy issues.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Sound critical thinking and judgement with ability to analyse issues and provide practical options.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development of high-quality policy and regulatory advice on workforce-related policy improvements for Royal Commission response.
  • Support policy projects through analysis, planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Ministry and health sector to deliver impactful policy initiatives.
  • Provide practical policy advice and identify opportunities to improve processes, tools and ways of working.
  • Build effective relationships while ensuring equity priorities and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations are reflected.

Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do

As a Policy Analyst in Strategy and Policy | Te Pou Rautaki, you'll contribute to meaningful policy work that supports decisions across the health system and government to progress the Ministry’s work implementing the Government’s Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions, focusing on workforce issues. Working alongside experienced policy professionals, health experts and key stakeholders, you'll help develop evidence-informed advice that influences outcomes for communities across Aotearoa while building your policy expertise in a collaborative, cross-agency and purpose-driven environment.


What You'll Do
