Job summary

ABB Pte. Ltd. in Singapore is seeking a technical lead for the automation and power management systems of offshore projects.

You will supervise multidisciplinary teams, review RFQ documents, and ensure integration of PMS applications with IEC 61850-based architectures. The role requires hands-on experience in automation within Oil & Gas or power sectors, familiarity with ABB 800xA, OPC UA, and cybersecurity concepts, plus strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology with a major in Electrical or Electronics.
• Proven hands-on experience in automation projects across Oil & Gas or power industries.
• Familiarity with IEC 61850 editions and cross-integration techniques.
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts and their implementation.
• Experience with ABB 800xA with control builder, PMS library and OPC UA is a plus.
• Self-motivated with good communication skills and stakeholder management.
• You must have work rights in the country.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for engineering activities related to automation and power management systems for offshore projects of low to medium complexity.
• Lead, supervise, and coordinate teams across engineering disciplines, in-house and at regional execution centers.
• Review RFQ documents and interpret PMS schematics and IEC 61850-based systems including PMS applications for load shedding, load sharing, Generator Control and synchronization.
• Design and implement communication networks and schemes for PMS using protocols such as RSTP, HSR, PRP, and MRP.
• Integrate LV/HV switchgear equipment using protocols like Modbus, Profibus, Profinet.
• Collaborate on factory acceptance tests and perform testing, pre-commissioning and commissioning at yards and offshore sites.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of communication networks using tools like Wireshark, IED Scout, ITT.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as technical lead for all engineering activities related to automation and power management systems for offshore projects of low to medium complexity.

Work model is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid

This role is contributing to Offshore Solutions Business within the Process Automation Energy Industries Division and is based in Singapore.

• Leading, supervising, and coordinating teams across different engineering disciplines, both in-house and at the execution center in the region.

• Reviewing RFQ documents, interpreting PMS schematics and engineering IEC 61850-based systems (MMS and GOOSE) including PMS applications for load shedding, load sharing, Generator Control and synchronization.

• Designing and Implementing communication networks and schemes for PMS using industrial protocols such as RSTP, HSR, PRP, and MRP etc.

• Integrating LV/HV switchgear equipment using industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Profinet etc.

• Collaborating on factory acceptance test at different factories, testing, pre-commissioning and com-missioning at yards and offshore sites.

• Performing diagnostics and troubleshooting of communication networks using specialized tools (e.g. Wireshark, IED Scout, ITT).

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology with a major in Electrical or Electronics.

• Proven hands‑on experience in Automation projects across Oil & Gas or power industries.

• Familiarity with multiple IEC 61850 editions and cross‑integration techniques.
