Job summary

Sourced IT Recruitment is seeking a skilled platform engineer for a 3-month contract in Christchurch. The role focuses on Microsoft-based platform engineering across M365, Azure, PowerApps, Power Automate and related technologies.

You will work hands-on with Azure, Exchange Online and SQL Server, collaborating with architects, vendor teams and application support to implement secure, scalable platform solutions. Christchurch-based office presence is required.

Qualifications

• Microsoft platform engineering across M365, Azure, PowerApps, Power Automate and Azure DevOps.
• Experience with prompt engineering and PowerShell.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure AD, Exchange Online and SQL Server.
• Cloud security experience across Azure and AWS, including SaaS and PaaS.

Responsibilities

• Provide platform engineering and technical expertise across the Microsoft environment.
• Focus on platform infrastructure; design, configuration, maintenance, testing and enhancement.
• Manage platform changes linked to the Cyber Security programme and resolve issues.
• Support architecture teams with solution design and promote platform best practices.
• Identify ways to improve delivery across design, development, automation and operations.

Job description

• Support Business Services across corporate and facilities systems.
• 3 month Contract, Christchurch based.

Support cyber security work across Microsoft platforms, with hands‑on engineering, platform maintenance and technical delivery in Christchurch.

In this contract, you will work on cyber security activities across corporate and facilities management systems. The role offers hands‑on work across a broad Microsoft platform environment, with exposure to Azure, M365 and automation tools. You will also work with architects, application support teams and vendors across the business.

What you will do:

You will provide platform engineering and technical expertise across the Microsoft environment. The role focuses on platform infrastructure rather than individual applications, covering design, configuration, maintenance, testing and enhancement. You will manage platform changes linked to the Cyber Security programme and resolve operational issues, defects and maintenance needs. You will support architecture teams with solution design and help application support teams apply platform best practices. You will also identify ways to improve delivery across design, development, automation and operational support.

Skills and experience we are looking for:

• Microsoft platform engineering experience across M365, Azure, PowerApps, Power Automate and Azure DevOps.
• Experience with prompt engineering and PowerShell.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure AD, Exchange Online and SQL Server.
• Cloud security experience across Azure and AWS, including SaaS and PaaS.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on finding root causes.
• Ability to explain technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience with ICT management and governance frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with vendors.
• Ability to work independently and progress issues with limited direction.
• Experience identifying incident trends and troubleshooting platform issues.
• .NET experience is an advantage.
• Ability to identify practical ways to mitigate issues while longer‑term solutions are developed.
• Commitment to working within tikanga, kawa and cultural practices guided by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri, and valuing te reo Māori.
