Job summary

The University of Auckland is seeking a hands-on Teaching Technician to support practical physiology teaching within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. You will work in the Multi-Disciplinary Laboratories to prepare sessions, handle biological materials, and ensure smooth laboratory operations for students.

Key duties include dissections, tissue handling, equipment maintenance and providing day-to-day lab support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Science, Biomedical Science or related discipline.
• Knowledge of physiological processes and laboratory procedures.
• Practical knowledge of scientific laboratory techniques and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up, support and pack down practical physiology teaching sessions.
• Undertake dissections, tissue collection and preparation per approved protocols and safety requirements.
• Maintain and troubleshoot scientific equipment; arrange servicing or calibration when needed.
• Demonstrate equipment and assist staff, tutors and students during practical teaching; update notes and records.
