Job summary

The University of Auckland is seeking a proactive Teaching Technician to join the Engineering technical support team. This hands-on role supports delivery of high-quality teaching laboratories and workshops for engineering students, working closely with academic staff and fellow technicians.

You will contribute to setup, operation, and safe maintenance of facilities, handling fabrication, design, manufacturing tasks, and stock control.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or relevant experience in design, manufacturing, civil, structural engineering, workshop practice, or mechanical engineering.
• Strong practical engineering and workshop skills.
• Excellent health and safety practices within workshop/lab environments.

Responsibilities

• Support setup, operation, and maintenance of teaching laboratories and workshops.
• Assist academic staff and students during practical sessions.
• Provide technical advice and troubleshooting across engineering equipment and systems.
• Maintain equipment, stock, and consumables; ensure a safe learning environment.
