Job summary

Longview Estate in Northland, New Zealand, invites applications for a Junior Vineyard & Winery Assistant. This hands-on, entry-level role offers broad experience across vineyard and cellar operations with guided on-the-job training.

You’ll work outdoors, learn machinery operation, and support daily tasks while developing practical wine-industry skills in a friendly, supportive team. An ideal fit for graduates or early-career applicants in viticulture or agriculture, with a valid NZ work

Qualifications

• Hands-on vineyard or winery experience is a plus.
• Physically capable of outdoor work and lifting up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Assist with vineyard care, canopy management, harvest prep, grape processing and cellar duties.
• Learn to operate vineyard tractors and equipment, and perform basic maintenance.
• Support day-to-day operations, supplier communications and property upkeep.

Are you a recent graduate or early-career person passionate about wine, viticulture, and winemaking? We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Junior Vineyard & Winery Assistant to join our team!

This is a hands-on, entry-level role designed to give you broad, practical experience across all areas of winery and vineyard operations. You will be working alongside our experienced team, who will guide and mentor you as you grow your skills in grape growing, cellar work, machinery operations, and site maintenance.

Longview Estate is a small, long-established winery based in Northland. We focus on growing and producing White Diamond wine right here on site. We are a straightforward, hardworking team dedicated to simply growing good grapes and making good wine, offering a down-to-earth and supportive workplace for someone eager to learn.

What You'll Be Doing (With Guidance & On-the-Job Training)

• Vineyard & Cellar Support: Assist with everyday vineyard care, canopy management, harvest preparations, grape processing, and general cellar duties.
• Machinery & Equipment: Learn to operate vineyard tractors and equipment safely, and assist with basic equipment care and upkeep.
• Day-to-Day Operations: Help out with basic supply ordering, communicating with suppliers, and general property maintenance.

What We Are Looking For

• Education / Background:
  • A degree/diploma in Viticulture, Agriculture, Horticulture, Oenology, or a related field; OR
  • Some hands-on entry-level experience in vineyard/winery work.
• Key Qualities:
  • Physically fit & outdoor-friendly: Enjoy active, physical work outdoors and comfortable lifting up to 25 kg.
  • Eager to learn & practical: Curious about how machinery works, willing to learn basic maintenance, and proactive in solving everyday problems.
  • Reliable & Team Player: Punctual, flexible, and happy to lend a hand wherever needed across the vineyard or cellar.
  • Licence & Visa: Valid driver's licence, own reliable transport, and legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.

Bonus Points (Nice to Have, but Not Required!)

• Growsafe certification or LCQ (Licence Controller Qualification). (If you don't have these yet, we can support you in getting them!)
