Job summary

Sancta Maria College invites a part-time Certificated teacher to lead the school’s music program, including co-curricular groups from Year 7 to 13. The role requires coordinating with teachers, coaches, support staff and student leaders to develop talent and ensure high standards in choral, jazz and orchestral activities.

Sancta Maria College has a successful and thriving music performance scene. Our award-winning music programme has over 20 groups ranging from Year 7 to Year 13 across choral, jazz, and orchestral areas.

This position suits someone who is passionate about music and is able to nurture talent, work effectively with teachers, coaches, support staff, and student leaders to help every group to achieve to their full potential. They will have the vision to provide opportunities for junior performers to encourage continuity through the co-curricular music programme.

There is an expectation that the successful applicant will lead their own music group/s to a high standard.

This role requires significant involvement outside of school hours.

This person will need to have:

• superb organisational, budgeting, and communication skills for EOTC
• ability to calendar in advance bookings
• recognise tensions within schools about students being out of class for co-curricular activities
• ability to grow student leadership
• excellent people management skills to manage the leaders of groups
• vision
• technical expertise
• experience in competition environments.

It is possible to combine this position with an additionalup to 0.5 FTE teaching load for the right applicant (state subject; music teachingbackground useful).
