Job summary

Are you a people-focused coordinator with human resource experience who enjoys variety, ownership, and making a real impact across a school community? Queen Margaret College is looking for a proactive and organised People & Capability Coordinator to join our small, supportive team.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to learn and develop their HR skills and experience. You’ll work closely with staff across all areas of the school, building trusted relationships and responding to a wide range of queries and needs.

Day to day you will provide administration support for the full employee lifecycle, recruitment and onboarding to payroll and offboarding, ensuring our HR processes run smoothly and professionally. You’ll also contribute to HR reporting, process improvement, and support the Director, People & Capability with projects and data that inform decision making across the College.

No two days are the same, and your ability to manage competing priorities, stay organised, and communicate clearly will be key to your success.

Ngā haepapa | The responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating recruitment and onboarding processes, including advertising, interview scheduling, employment agreements, Police Vetting, and liaising with IT, Property, and Health & Safety ensuring successful onboarding.
  • Managing employee records, and contract variations.
  • Supporting payroll processing, maintaining payroll data, and responding to staff queries
  • Managing the People inbox, categorising and responding to queries.
  • Tracking key HR metrics and preparing reports.
  • Supporting process improvement initiatives and contributing to HR projects.

You will bring to the role:

  • Experience in HR administration or coordination or a recent HR graduate qualification
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft suite skills
  • Initiative and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development
  • Experience or some knowledge of payroll systems
  • Knowledge of NZ employment legislation
  • Experience in a school environment (preferred but not essential)
