Job summary

Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting Student Wellbeing Facilitators to join the Student Wellbeing team on a casual contract. The role provides peer wellbeing support through engaging students in conversation and activities, and to empower students to access self-help resources and services available at University.

Qualifications

  • Current student status at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Experience in peer support, telephone counselling or group facilitation.
  • Experience and awareness of the University environment and key issues for students.
  • Clear oral communication with equity groups and young people aged 18-25.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and personal boundaries.
  • Knowledge and experience of te ao Māori and working with Māori individuals, whānau and communities.
  • Experience and interest in working with Pasifika, rainbow, gender diverse, refugee-background, disabled and international communities.

Responsibilities

  • Actively welcome and engage students in conversation and activities.
  • Refer students to other services.
  • Promote social connectedness and engagement.
  • Boundary inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour and seek support as needed.
  • Promote healthy and balanced lifestyles.
  • Host a space and activities that are inclusive, positive and socially engaging.
  • Promote Manawa Ora-Student Wellbeing at events.
  • Attend training and team meetings.
  • Respond to communication from supervisor and manager.
  • Complete timesheets weekly.
  • Support the implementation of Ki te rā: Student Wellbeing Outcomes Framework.
