Job summary

Kirimana Consultants in Christchurch is seeking an experienced Paving Foreman to lead day-to-day surfacing and asphalt paving activities across roading and civil projects. The role ensures works are completed safely, to specification and on programme, while coordinating crews and plant resources.

You will supervise paving crews, plan schedules, operate paving equipment, and uphold safety and quality standards across multiple sites in Canterbury.

Kirimana Consultants - Christchurch, South Island

Kirimana is looking for an experienced Paving Foreman to lead construction projects across Christchurch. This role will lead day-to-day surfacing and asphalt paving activities across roading and civil projects, ensuring works are completed safely, to specification and on programme.

We're looking for an experienced foreman who can confidently work across a range of construction projects, delivering quality workmanship while working safely and efficiently.

What We're Looking For

You’ll work alongside experienced teams across a variety of civil projects. You’ll need to work safely, follow instructions and plans, and deliver accurate, high-quality workmanship.

• Supervise and lead paving crews, including operators, labourers and subcontractors, providing clear direction and on-the-job coaching.
• Plan, schedule and coordinate paving activities such as reseals, chipseal, asphalt and other pavement treatments to meet project programmes and client requirements.
• Operate paving plant and equipment as required, including pavers, rollers, chip spreaders, broom/sweeper trucks and bitumen sprayers, and allocate plant resources efficiently.
• Ensure works are completed to specification and quality standards; carry out inspections, monitor material application and rectify issues promptly.
• Carry out and oversee routine plant checks, basic maintenance and cleaning; report and manage defects and coordinate repairs with maintenance teams.
• Prepare and maintain daily production records, timesheets, plant checklists and site documentation; report progress to site supervisors and project managers.
• Implement and enforce health, safety and environmental policies on site, lead toolbox talks, site inductions and participate in safety audits and incident investigations.
• Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, traffic management personnel and the public to maintain positive stakeholder relationships and minimise disruption.
