Job summary

Water Boy in Auckland is seeking a passionate pastry chef to join our beachfront cafe team. You’ll bake pastries, cakes and desserts, supporting a changing seasonal menu with great vibes by the sea.

The role requires at least 1 year of pastry experience and basic hospitality training. You’ll be reliable, calm under pressure and a true team player, with flexibility for weekend and evening shifts. We offer tips, staff discounts and daily staff meals, plus on‑the‑job training.

Qualifications

• 1+ year pastry experience in a kitchen or cafe.
• Basic hospitality training is required.
• Reliable, punctual and a true team player.
• Able to stay calm during busy service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake pastries, cakes and desserts as per menu.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing and baking a range of pastries, cakes, desserts & other dishes to support our new menu.
• Preparing pastry doughs, fillings, creams, custards and sauces.
• Enforcing health & safety and food hygiene standards.
• Loves working with people and brings great energy to every shift
• Is reliable, punctual, self-motivated and a real team player
• Has basic hospitality training and at least 1 year of pastry experience
• Can stay calm and friendly during a busy service
• Is flexible with working weekends and evenings over a 7-day roster
