Job summary

Skyline Enterprises in Queenstown is seeking a Pastry Chef to assist in the efficient preparation, portioning and presentation of pastry items. You will follow Head Pastry Chef directions, ensuring high standards in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining safety and hygiene.

The role offers hourly pay of 32–34 NZD with 30-50 hours weekly guaranteed, staff meals and accommodation options in a dynamic and growing international organisation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years pastry chef experience or relevant qualification.
• Experience in a high-end, high-volume kitchen.
• Extensive patisserie knowledge with strong technical skills.
• Buffet production experience desirable.
• Excellent communication and can-do attitude.
• Passion for service and quality production.
• Strong food safety and hygiene practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion pastry menu items to standard.
• Ensure quality, presentation and service of all pastries.
• Follow Head Pastry Chef directions and allocate tasks.
• Maintain safety, security and hygiene standards.
• Collaborate in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

About The Role

The Pastry Chef will assist in the efficient preparation of menu items, portion sizes, product quality, presentation and service of all foods in the pastry kitchen. You will ensure that the Head Pastry Chef’s directions and task allocation are consistently followed through to the highest professional standards. We are looking for a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and maintains all legislative standards of safety, security, hygiene and administration.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• 4+ years' pastry chef experience or relevant qualification
• relevant experience within a similar high-end and high-volume kitchen,
• extensive knowledge of patisserie with good technical ability and a great eye for detail,
• experience in buffet production is desirable,
• a “can do” attitude and excellent communication skills,
• a passion for providing fantastic service and ability to produce a quality product,
• a high level of food safety and hygiene.
