Responsibilities

• Load, unload, clean and maintain baking trays and equipment.
• Order ingredients and supplies based on daily production requirements.

We are seeking for TWO Pastry Cooks’ at AMBRISH LIMITED T/A APPENZELL BAKES AND CAKES in WHAKATANE, New Zealand. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced baker who enjoys working in a fast-paced café environment and takes pride in producing high-quality baked goods while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.

We guarantee more than 30 hours per week with a pay rate between $24.00 to $27.00/- an hour.

You will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Some of the duties and responsibilities you will be responsible for include:

Your duties will include:

• Preparing custards, sauces, chocolates, fillings, and desserts.
• Mixing, kneading, rolling, moulding, and shaping dough.
• Preparing customer orders to a high standard.
• Checking the quality and freshness of raw ingredients.
• Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times Working confidently with meat products, including identifying spoilage and handling them safely.
• Loading, unloading, cooling, de-panning, cleaning, greasing, and maintaining baking trays and equipment.
• Ordering ingredients and supplies based on daily production requirements.
• Keeping the bakery clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
• Following workplace health and safety procedures and company policies.
• Working collaboratively with the team and maintaining clear communication.
• Following rostered hours and arriving on time for every shift.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience for the role of Cook, However, A Minimum qualification of NZQF Level 4 can substitute the requirement of work experience.
• The selected candidate will receive detailed training.
• Basic communication skills and basic knowledge of technology to operate the equipment.
• Able to work independently and make decisions in the kitchen for the betterment of the business.
• Pass random drug and alcohol tests (when required).
• Clear criminal record
• Have an excellent manner with people, especially team members.
• Reliable and flexible to change.
• Must be able to work across any shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Must be able to work in split shifts
• Must be a fit, quick thinker, reliable, trustworthy, and self-motivated
• Able to lift weights up to 25kg.
